3 Texas deputy shot, one killed in Houston

Three Texas constable's deputies were shot outside a Houston bar early Saturday when they were investigating a disturbance, according to authorities. One deputy was killed.
One person has been taken into custody but the police have not released any information regarding him. Houston police Executive Assistant Chief James Jones told reporters, "We believe they were ambushed, shot ... with a rifle”.
The incident took place around 2:15 am. Jones added, "It turns out it may have been a robbery they were intervening in ... probably unknown to them at the time. They were trying to arrest a suspect or detain a suspect ... when they were ambushed”.
As the deputies were being taken to the hospital, one of them died. The names of the injured or the dead have not been released as of now. Of the surviving deputies, one was shot in the back and was in surgery Saturday morning, and the other was shot in the foot and preparing to go into surgery.
Precinct 4 Constable Mark Herman said, “This is a tough time for Precinct 4. I'm asking for all of our community's thoughts and prayers for our families.”
The suspect is believed to be in his 20s. "We hope to have a suspect in custody soon,” Herman said. Houston police have asked anyone with information about the shooting to call them.
