Amazon.com is planning to lay off about 10,000 people in corporate ad technology jobs starting as soon as this week, the New York Times reported on Monday.

The cuts will focus on the e-commerce giant's devices unit, which houses voice-assistant Alexa, as well as its retail division and human resources. If the compay moves as planned with the lay offs, this would become the largest job cut in Amazon's history.

Although the total number of jubs that will be cust has not been finalised, it would be roughly around 10,000 which would account below one perecent of its 1.5 million global workforce. Amazon would, however, not be , the only technology company to trim its workforce.Earlier Twitter also halved the social media firm's head count.
