Angelina Jolie sold Churchill's Marrakesh Sunset painting for $11.6M: What you need to know

Winston Churchill's painting of Marrakesh Sunset, given to President D. Roosevelt, now sold by Angelina Jolie for record $11.6 million U.S dollars.
The former British prime minister, Winston Churchill, was an amateur painter whose arts usually come up at auction.
Following the Anfa Conference that took place in Casablanca in January 1943, Churchill painted the oil on canvas in Mamounia Hotel in Marrakech, where he stayed with President Roosevelt. The former British prime minister had invited Roosevelt to visit Marrakesh and had insisted they must see the sunset over Marrakesh and the Great Atlas Mountains of Morocco.
On March 1, 2021, The painting "Tower of the Koutoubia Mosque" owned by Angelina Jolie, sold to a bitter with Christie's Surrealism specialist Olivier Camu for $11.6 million U.S dollars.
