Biden release $1 billion for Puerto Rico: What you need to know

Biden administration's latest move includes The U.S. Department of Education releasing $1 billion in federal funds for Puerto Rico. Here is everything we know about the situation:

1. This fund will help Puerto Rico in responding to both Pandemic and the other natural disasters that it has faced in recent times.

2. The US territory will be able to access $912 million immediately in education funds. This funding was previously held up by the Trump administration.

3. “It’s important that we establish a strong partnership with Puerto Rico to reverse the damage done by the natural disasters”, U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona said.

4. This news comes after the schools in Puerto Rico have been closed for over one year. Gov. Pedro Pierluisi imposed restrictions in both private and public schools in early March last year.
