Britney Spear's husband Sam Asghari files for divorce
Pop icon Britney Spears and her spouse Sam Asghari have parted ways following 14 months of matrimony.
According to a divorce application submitted on Wednesday and reviewed by BBC News, the split is attributed to "irreconcilable differences" between Spears, aged 41, and Asghari, aged 29.
Having become engaged in September 2021, the couple exchanged vows in an intimate yet celebrity-studded event in June 2022.
Nonetheless, reports of their challenges in marriage have been prominently featured in American tabloids throughout this year.
As outlined in the divorce papers submitted to the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Asghari is requesting spousal support and coverage of attorney fees from Spears.
