Eight killed in Texas outlet mall shooting

A shooting occurred at a shopping mall in Allen, Texas, on May 6, 2023, leaving at least two people dead and several others injured. The shooter, identified as a 27-year-old man, opened fire at the Watters Creek at Montgomery Farm mall before being taken into custody by the police.


The mall was placed on lockdown as law enforcement officers responded to the incident, which reportedly began at around 2:30 pm local time. The shooter was reported to have used a handgun and fired multiple shots in the parking lot and inside the mall.


According to authorities, two people were pronounced dead at the scene, while several others were injured and taken to local hospitals for treatment. The extent of their injuries is not yet known. Police have not released the identities of the victims or the suspect.


The motive for the shooting is also unclear at this time, and the investigation is ongoing. The Allen Police Department is working with other law enforcement agencies to gather information and determine what led up to the shooting.


The shooting has sparked fear and concern among residents in the area, as well as renewed calls for gun control laws. The incident comes amid a national debate over gun violence and calls for action to address the issue.
