El Chapo's wife arrested: What you need to know
On Monday, February 22, 2021, Emma Coronel Aisupuro, El Chapo's wife was arrested in Virginia at Dulles International Airport on multiple international drug dealing accounts. Some of the accusations include but not limited to taking part in conspiracies to distribute many Schedule II drugs such as meth, heroin and cocaine. She was also accused of assisting and 'intention to assist' in prison escapes back in 2015 and 2017.
Her husband, Joaquin Guzman, a.k.a El Chapo, was sentenced to life in prison in 2019 for leading the Mexican cartel of Sinaloa and torturing and murdering at least 23 individuals.
