Elon Musk confirmed a while ago that SpaceX’s Starlink satellites are active over Ukraine after a request from Ukraine’s leadership to replace internet services destroyed by the Russian attack.

After Russia attacked Ukraine, the country was left with no internet access in some parts. SpaceX has launched thousands of communications satellites to bring broadband in hard-to-reach areas of the world. “Starlink service is now active in Ukraine. More terminals en route,” Elon tweeted on Saturday.

Ukraine’s vice prime minister Mykhailo Fedorov tweeted yesterday, “@elonmusk, while you try to colonize Mars — Russia try to occupy Ukraine! While your rockets successfully land from space — Russian rockets attack Ukrainian civil people! We ask you to provide Ukraine with Starlink stations and to address sane Russians to stand”.

After Elon confirmed that the satellites were active over the struggling country, Vice Prime Miniter thanked Elon by tweeting, “Starlink terminals are coming to Ukraine! Thank you @elonmusk, thank you everyone, who supported Ukraine!”.

Mr. Fedorov has called on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Netflix, and Google to block Russian accounts in response to the invasion.

Musk's SpaceX has thousands of Starlink satellites in orbit, which allow the company to beam broadband services around Earth, without the need for fiber-optic cables. The satellites could keep Ukraine online if its internet infrastructure is damaged by Russia's attacks. Musk said: "Starlink service is now active in Ukraine. More terminals en route."
