French fashion designer, Thierry Mugler, dies aged 73
Famous French designer, Thierry Mugler has died at the age of 73 as per the statement released on his official Facebook page. The statement read, "We are devastated to announce the passing of Mr. Manfred Thierry Mugler on Sunday, January 23rd, 2022. May his soul rest in peace”
As per his agent, he dies of natural causes. He was widely known for designs with broad shoulders and sharp tailoring, which drew on the 1940s and 50s glamour.
A bunch of celebrities wore his designs including David Bowie, Kim Kardashian, and Lady Gaga.
He was born in 1948 and opened his first boutique in Paris during the 1970s. In his recent interview with Women's Wear Daily, he said, "I wasn't sure what I wanted to do, but fashion took off for me very quickly in Paris as soon as I showed my sketches.”
People from the fashion world started paying tributes as the news broke. Fashion designer Brian Atwood said Mugler was a "constant inspiration”. Diana Ross said via Twitter, “I will miss you Thierry Mugler this was a wonderful time in our lives.”
