Gunmen kills 16 in Nigeria: What you need to know

On early Friday morning, 16 people were killed and nine were injured in a shooting incident in northwestern Nigeria’s Tara village, which is in Sokoto State. The gunmen were from Dogon Zango, in Zamfara state and came on motorcycles. The locals and officials have confirmed the casualty numbers and they also mentioned that the ‘bandits’ took more than 100 cows with them. This is one of the many attacks that have been happening in Nigeria even after a peace deal in 2019 that was signed by some of the bandits. This has led many people from these areas to migrate into Maradi, the second-largest city in the neighboring country of Niger.
