‘Gunther’ from F.R.I.E.N.D.S.- James Michael Tyler dead at 59
Actor James Michael Tyler, famous for portraying the role of ‘Gunther’ from the hit American sitcom ‘FRIENDS’ has died at the age of 59, as confirmed by the actor’s representative.
The statement released by the actor’s family said, "The world knew him as Gunther (the seventh "Friend"), from the hit series "Friends," but Michael’s loved ones knew him as an actor, musician, cancer-awareness advocate, and loving husband.”
Apart from the main cast of FRIENDS, James was one of the most popular characters on the show, cropping up in 185 episodes - more than Janice, Carol, Susan, Phoebe's husband Mike, and Ross and Monica's parents Jack and Judy put together.
The actor was diagnosed with prostate cancer back in September 2018. Tyler passed away peacefully at his home in Los Angeles on Sunday morning.
The statement released by the family also read, "Michael loved live music, cheering on his Clemson Tigers, and would often find himself in fun and unplanned adventures. If you met him once you made a friend for life."
