Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy urges Moscow to engage in further peace talks "without delay". He says: "This is the only chance for Russia to reduce the damage from its own mistakes", saying it would otherwise take Russia "several generations" to recover from its losses in the war.

Russia's Vladimir Putin accuses Ukraine of stalling peace talks with "unrealistic proposals" in a call with the German chancellor.

Ukraine says Russia's two main routes for attacking Kyiv - on both sides of the Dnipro river - have been blocked, according to reports by CNN.

Street fighting is stopping rescuers from reaching hundreds of survivors trapped beneath a shelled theatre, Mariupol's mayor tells the BBC.

Fighting has reached the city centre in the southern port of Mariupol, while an estimated 1,300 people remain trapped under rubble following an airstrike on a theatre.

Ukrainian authorities have not noticed any significant shifts over the past 24 hours in front line areas where Ukrainian troops are battling Russian forces, presidential adviser Oleksiy Arestovych said on Saturday.

Mayor Vadym Boychenko says Ukrainian forces are doing their all to hold off a larger Russian force inside the southern port city.

Three Russian cosmonauts arrived at the International Space Station wearing bright yellow and blue - the colours of the Ukrainian flag.
