Huge Internet outage brings FedEx, McDonalds and HSBC down: What you need to know

There was a huge internet outage on Thursday morning which brought down big businesses like FedEx, McDonald's, HSBC, and Delta airlines down. The outage lasted for a brief time and the root cause is still being investigated
The outage coincided with issues in the system of Akamai and Oracle, which are the leading infrastructure provider in the world. A statement was released by Oracle, "We are monitoring a global issue related to a partner Edge DNS that is impacting access to many internet resources, including Oracle cloud properties.”
Akamai, which provides a service to re-direct the internet traffic to its correct destination released a statement on the outage, "We have implemented a fix for this issue, and based on current observations, the service is resuming normal operations. We will continue to monitor to ensure that the impact has been fully mitigated.”
The half-hour outage brought down a bunch of leading websites like Airbnb, Paytm, Hotstar, Zomato, Disney+, and British Airways. Tomato addressed the issue saying, "Our app is down, due to a widespread Akamai outage. Our teams are working to ensure all orders placed are delivered asap.” Paytm tweeted, "Some Paytm services are affected due to global outage at Akamai. We are actively working towards a resolution."
This was the third major internet outage in the past two months, and Akamai was involved in two of those. Due to these recent outages, many experts are worried about the reliability of internet infrastructure providers.
