John McAfee, software mogul, found dead in prison: What you need to know
Founder of McAfee antivirus, John McAfee, a British-American has been found dead in in a prison in Barcelona this afternoon.
Recently Spanish High Court authorized the extradition of McAfee to the United States where he is facing tax evasion charges.
McAfee was arrested in October 2020 at Barcelona airport. During the hearing this month, he said that the charges against him were false and had political motive.
Circumstances of his dead points to suicide, but no official report has been released yet.
US security and exchange commission alleged that McAfee, 75, made almost $US23.1 million in undisclosed income from incorrect cryptocurrency recommendations.
John founded McAfee in 1987 and ran it until 1994. He also founded other companies like Tribal Voice, QuorumEx, and Future Tense Central.
He was also active in politics and was unsuccessful to become a nominee for POTUS in 2016 and 2020.
