Jordan’s trial of the century : What you need to know

1. Jordan's 'trial of the century' will begin in a state security court next week when the relative of King Abdullah II and former head of the royal court appear in court to face the charges of treason and incitement.


2. He is accused of conspiring with foreign aid and prince Hamza, a senior member of the royal family and half-brother of the current king of Jordan, to create public discontent against King Abdullah.


3. Significantly, in the year 2004, King Abdullah stripped Hamza of the status of crown prince for his eldest son.


4. According to reports, on Monday, members of the royal family Sharif Hassan Bin Zaid and former royal advisor Bassem Awadallah will face charges of incitement.
