On Tuesday, February 23rd, Malaysian authorities confirmed that they have deported 1086 Myanmar migrants ignoring the court order to put a stay on deportation for one day. The court appeal was filed by Amnesty International Malaysia and Asylum Access Malaysia to stop the deportation of 1200 migrants back to Myanmar, where human rights violations are on a rise after a military coup earlier this month. Immigration authorities said in a statement that the migrants have voluntarily agreed to return to their home country. On Sunday, a group of leaders sent a letter to Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin asking him to intervene, however, no response was received.
