Man dressed as Joker stabs 17 people in Tokyo train

A man dressed as Batman comic book villain Joker reportedly stabbed and injured 17 people in a Tokyo train. After stabbing them he set the train on fire. The incident happened inside the Keio train near Kokuryo station. One man is reported to be seriously injured.


According to eyewitnesses, the culprit sprayed liquid in the carriage after stabbing and set the train on fire. As per the videos circulated on social media, people are seen running away from him, with some attempting to climb through windows in a bid to escape.

The suspect was arrested by the police on the spot. One witness told the Yomiuri newspaper, "I thought it was a Halloween stunt. Then, I saw a man walking this way, slowly waving a long knife.”


According to local media, the suspect told the police that he wanted to “kill people” so that he can be sentenced to death. The train line was suspended till Sunday after the incident.
