Mumbai woman who was raped dies

A 32-year old woman, who was brutally raped and had an unknown object inserted in her private parts in Mumbai, passed away at a government hospital Saturday.
The accused, identified as Mohan Chavan was arrested on Friday evening and booked for rape and murder, has been sent to 10-day police custody by a Mumbai court till September 21. The incident sparked outrage all over the state with the National Commission for Women taking note on Saturday.
Maharashtra State Chief Minister said that the crime will be tried in a fast-track court and that the state government will ensure strict punishment is handed out to the accused.
The woman was homeless and has two minor daughters. A Shiv Sena MLC has appealed to Chief Minister to consider compensation for them under the government schemes for women.
