Myanmar coup: What you need to know

On Feb 1st 2021, 10 years after Myanmar got a democratically elected government suffered a siege when military took over the country. The de-facto president of Myanmar, Aung San Suu Kyi, a Nobel Laurette, and group of other leaders were arrested and are being kept in an undisclosed location. Following the coup, the country is seeing small protests amid an eerie calm.TV news, phone and internet services are being disrupted. The coup happened following the loss of army-backed opposition by the government in parliamentary elections. Almost all World leaders have publicly condemned the actions taken by the military in Myanmar.
