‘Natural Disaster’ declared in parts of Australia: What you need to know

The Australian government has declared a ‘Natural Disaster’ in large parts of New South Wales state. Here is everything we know about the situation:
There have been heavy rains for the past few days which has led to a flood-like situation, not seen in at least the past 100 years.
The situation got worse when a major dam overflowed and caused a flash flood.
There has been no death reported so far. However, government officials say that “we are moving closer and closer to the inevitable fatality.”
Many people were forced to evacuate the areas in the middle of the night.
Heavy rains are expected to continue in the coming week. More than 130 schools in New South Wales will close on Monday.
