New Green card bill introduced in senate: What you need to know

In the US Senate, both the Republican and Democratic have jointly introduced a bill to remove the limit on employment-based green cards given to each country. Congress members Zoe Lofgren and John Courtis have introduced the bill in the senate.

1. The Equal Access Green Card for Legal Employment Act 2021 needs to be passed in the Senate first and then it will go to the white Houses for the President’s signature.

2. The bill increases the limit of 7% per country on family-sponsored visas to 15%.

3. This is likely to benefit Indian IT professionals who have been waiting to get a green card for a long time.

4. Green card gives expatriates the privilege of permanently residing in the US, the most benefit will be given to those Indians who have H1B working visa.
