No lockdown in Mumbai: What you need to know

With the recent increasing cases of COVID-19 in Mumbai, many people are wondering if the government will take stricter measures to control the spread. However, the government has released a statement, and here is everything we know about that:

  1. BMC has denied any plans for lockdowns or curfews in the city according to Municipal Commissioner I S Chahal.

  2. The covid testing in the city will be doubled from 25,000 to 50,000 a day. Mumbai is expected to see 6000 cases per day.

  3. On Thursday, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray had a meeting with various members of the government and health department to discuss the means to control the spread of the deadly virus. In the meeting, health officials said that there are no serious cases in the city.

  4. According to guidelines issued on Saturday by BMC< random covid testing will be conducted at crowded places like malls.

  5. Mumbai recorded 2,982 cases of coronavirus on Saturday.
