Olympian Milkha Singh passes away due to COVID-19: What you need to know

Top Indian Olympic sportsman Milkha Singh passed away late Friday night in India due to COVID-19 complications.
Singh, 91, contracted COVID-19 about a month back and recently lost his wife to the virus.
Milkha Singh won medals in the 1958 Commonwealth Games and 1960 Rome Olympics.
After contacting the virus on May 20th, he was admitted to a private hospital in Mohali on May 24th. He was discharged on May 30th but was again admitted to PGIMER on June 3rd due to low oxygen level.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted his condolences saying, “In the passing away of Shri Milkha Singh Ji, we have lost a colossal sportsperson, who captured the nation’s imagination and had a special place in the hearts of countless Indians. His inspiring personality endeared himself to millions. Anguished by his passing away”.
