Palestinian Gunman kills one and wounds three in Jerusalem’s Old City

A gunman opened fire in Jerusalem's Old City on Sunday morning which led to the killing of one person and three people being wounded. According to official reports, the gunman was identified as a member of the Palestinian militant group, Hamas.
One person shot by the militant died in the hospital due to a severe wound. Among the three people wounded, two are Israeli police officers, according to official reports.
The attacker was identified as a 42-year-old Palestinian man, Fadi Abu Shkhaydam, from East Jerusalem. He disguised himself as an Orthodox Jew.
The attack took place near a gate to a compound in East Jerusalem. This place often sees knife attacks, however, this kind of gun attack is extremely rare. According to Internal Security Minister Omer Bar-Lev, the entire incident "lasted 32 or 36 seconds”.
He further said, "[The gunman] moved through the alleys and fired quite a bit. Luckily, the alley was mostly empty because otherwise - heaven forbid - there would have been more casualties”.
Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett has asked the security forces in the area to be more vigilant. The attack is the most serious of its kind in many months.
