Passengers jump in sea as ship catches fire: What you need to know


  • Today, May 29th, a ferry carrying 200 passengers in Indonesia caught fire, which prompted the passengers to jump in the sea to save their lives.

  • The Ferry was traveling to a remote island in northeastern Indonesia heading for Sanana. It was in the Molucca Sea and the incident happened about 15 minutes after its departure.

  • The officials say that there was no casualty and all the passengers and crew were rescued successfully.

  • A phone video released showed the passengers clinging to whatever they could find as they struggled to keep themselves afloat.

  • Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire.
