Princess Basmah's supporters want the UK to help secure her release: What you need to know

Back in March 2019, Princess Basmah bint Saud bin Abdulaziz al-Saud and her daughter Souhoud Al-Sharif were arrested by eight armed men when she tried to leave Saudi Arabia for medical care in Switzerland. Since then it has been reported that they both are being held in the al-Hair Prison in Riyadh, one of the most notorious political, maximum-security prisons of Saudi Arabia.
In letters to both foreign secretary Dominic Raab and Commonwealth general secretary Patricia Scotland, Princess Basmah's supporters said the princess was allegedly detained and held in prison because of her consistent past support for civil liberties and freedoms in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Now, her supporters are calling for the British government to help secure their release. Reports claim that the princess suffers from a serious heart condition that requires immediate medical treatment.
