On Saturday, February 27th, hundreds gathered in lower Manhattan to protest the rising attacks on Asian-Americans. The protest took place on Foley Square, where recently a 36-year-old Asian man was stabbed in the stomach. Police arrested a 23-year-old Salman Muflihi and have charged him with attempted murder and attempted assault. “We will not accept hatred in New York City! Stop Asian hate. This is the message we have to get out not just in New York City, but all over this country. Stop Asian hate, stop it now,” Mayor de Blasio said while addressing the crowd. Many local and state politicians have expressed concern over the issue. The residents of Asian descent are expressing fear to come out of their houses.
