Shooting outside Nationals Park in Washington DC (Video): What you need to know

  • A shooting took place late Saturday night outside Nationals Park in Washington DC which left at least four people injured as per initial reports. The incident happened as the Nationals were playing San Diego Padres.


  • There was chaos in the stadium and the scoreboard displayed a message asking the people to stay calm. However, after some time, the message said that it was safe for people to leave. There were multiple loud bangs heard in the stadium.


  • The DC Metropolitan Police Department released a statement via a Tweet, "This is currently an active investigation and it appears there is no ongoing threat at this time.”


  • The game has been suspended till Sunday afternoon. The Nationals team said on Twitter, "The suspended game will resume beginning at 1:05 PM ET and be completed as a nine-inning regulation game”.


  • As per initial reports, no team members or officials have been injured or are said to be involved. This incident comes just one day after a 6-year-old girl was killed in a mass shooting incident in Washington DC.
