Taliban attacks three cities in Afghanistan: What you need to know

Taliban has entered three cities in Afghanistan. Currently, the fighters are in process of capturing parts of Herat, Lashkar Gah, and Kandahar. Taliban has gained significant parts in the country post the announcement that all foreign troops will be leaving Afghanistan soon.
Taliban has already captured major parts of the country which includes the border crossings with Iran and Pakistan.
According to sources, in Lashkar Gah, the Taliban is very close to capturing the governor's office. They came extremely close to capture it yesterday as well, but the retaliation from Afghan forces forced them to retreat.

According to reports the situation in Kandahar is also very bad and getting worst by the hour. A lot of people have already been displaced citing humanitarian causes. If captured, the Taliban expects to make Kandahar it's capital.
Herat is one of the most important cities from an economical point of view. Taliban has entered the southern parts of the city. The US is carrying out airstrips in the country right now to support Afghan forces. A guard was reportedly killed yesterday outside the UN compound by the Taliban.
