Past week turned out to be one of the most challenging week for Texans in terms of weather. More than one third of the US was under sub-zero temperature, but lack of preparedness put Texas in the worst condition. At least 26 people have been reported dead in the state due to lack of proper heating and water arrangements. Rolling blackouts were a result of unprecedented electricity demand that put excessive load on Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT). Meanwhile, US senator for Texas Ted Cruz came under fire for fleeing the state for a family vacation in Cancun, Mexico, leaving the residents in utter despair. Since the news broke out he has returned back to the state and apologized for his action. Temperatures starting Sunday continue to climb, reaching 60s and 70s which is much closer to the average temperature in the state.
