Tokyo Olympics 2020: Amber Hill becomes latest British to withdraw from Games due to COVID
A strong contender for Gold in shooting, Amber Hill has become the latest Team GB athlete to be shunted out of the Tokyo Olympics since it was confirmed she had tested positive for COVID, before leaving for Japan.
Hill finished 6th as the Rio Olympics 2016 but looked set to challenge for a podium spot in Tokyo after winning World Cup Gold earlier this year.
Just 30 out of 375 GB athletes will be at the ceremony, as the number scaled down due to the risk of infection.
She became the third British COVID withdrawal after Dan Evans and Johanna Konta but had a significantly better chance of winning her discipline than the tennis pair.
