Tokyo Olympics 2020: One gold medal shared by two contestants

Italy's Gianmarco Tamberi and Mutaz Barshim of Qatar agreed to share a gold medal in a competition settled not by clearing the top height but with a subtle nod.
In a huddle with track officials, the high jumpers were given the option to settle the tie with a jump-off. Both had cleared the mark of 2.37 metres in the competition, and with no failures to count back on, the pair talked with the judge and settled on sharing the gold.
Two athletes, two born winners and two friends have displayed the Olympic values to the world and elevated the spirit of sportsmanship and above all the motto of ancient Olympics.
