Turkey’s Erdogan-Biden meeting: What you need to know

President Joe Biden had a meeting with Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan on Monday in Brussels.
The Turkish President said that the talks were ‘fruitful and sincere’. He said that they discussed the regional issues and working towards bolstering the friendship between IS and Turkey.
Talking about the one-hour meeting with his Turkish counterpart, Joe Biden said that the talks were “positive and productive”.
In April, President Joe Biden caused a stir when he declared the Ottoman-era mass killings in Ankara and deportation of Armenians as ‘genocide’.
Erdogan signaled the role of Turkey to guard and operate Kabul airport in Afghanistan, once the US and NATO forces withdraw from the region. However, there was no development on the topic of Turkey buying the S-400 advanced Russian missile defense system.
