Virat Kohli announces to leave captaincy from T-20 Indian Cricket Team
Virat Kohli has announced to leave the captaincy of the T-20 format. There was talk of his removal since the tour of England, but initially, the BCCI kept denying it. Kohli himself has announced by tweeting a letter on Thursday that he will leave the captaincy of this format after the T-20 World cup. Now Rohit Sharma can be made the captain in this format.
Kohli wrote in the letter that he has been extremely fortunate that he not only got the opportunity to represent India but also to captain it to the best of his ability. He thanked everyone who has supported his journey as the captain of the Indian Cricket Team. He thanked the support staff, the selection committee, coaches and each and every Indian praying for his success.
Kohli also gave the reason for leaving the captaincy. He wrote that he understands that workload is very important. He felt that he need to do a little bit to prepare himself completely for the captaincy of Team India in Tests and ODIs so want to give himself space to be fully ready to lead the Indian Team. He will continue his contribution as a batsman in the T 20 team.
