Women’s Hockey team India loses semi-final match, in Boxing gets bronze
After the men’s hockey team India defeat in the semi-final, the women’s hockey team also lost its match with Argentina.
Now Indian women’s hockey team will face Great Britain for bronze as Britain’s team also lost its match in their semi-final with the Netherlands.
In another game, Indian boxer Lovlina Borgohain won a bronze medal, India’s third medal at Tokyo and the second bronze medal. Lovelina became India’s second woman boxer with an Olympic medal after Mary Kom in the 2012 London Games.
In wrestling, Ravi Dahiya entered the final after beating Bulgarian and Kazakhastan wrestlers. With this, Ravi has assured himself and Indian at least a silver from the wrestling mats of Tokyo. Before this, only one other Indian wrestler- Sushil Kumar has won a silver medal at the Olympics for India. Ravi also became the 5th Indian wrestler overall to secure an Olympic medal for India. He is also the first male Indian athlete to secure a medal at the Games in Tokyo for India.
